A new opportunity has opened for an Accounting Supervisor on our Vistar GL team.
HYBRID OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE.
The Accounting Supervisor, Payroll with the Performance Business Solutions division of PFG will be responsible for analyzing and verifying complex financial information, preparing financial reporting, reconciling general ledger accounts, and performing month-end close activities for distribution centers and other locations as assigned in a Shared Services environment supporting multiple operating companies and corporate locations across the US.
Identify and recommend effective solutions towards process improvements while providing leadership and direction to a team of two or more accountants.
Internal contacts with employees at all levels in the organization.
External contacts may include vendors, operating companies, banks, and auditors.
Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Major Functional Responsibilities: Supervises associates to include, but not limited to staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution.
Lead small teams on special projects assigned by management.
Perform detailed review of complex journal entries.
Prepare and publish internal month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting.
Perform and/or review complex accounting reconciliations and balance sheet trend analysis.
Prepare and review schedules for internal/external auditors in connection with reviews/audits.
Prepare and review reports.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies and reporting deadlines.
Ensure transactions are performed within a sound internal control environment, in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) key controls.
Provide strategic recommendations for process improvements and efficient use of resources.
Effectively lead team through change.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Education/Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; 2-5 years accounting experience.
General Accounting or other relevant experience in a high-volume transaction environment; Thorough understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, working knowledge of Microsoft Access.
Preferred Qualifications Master's in Business Administration (MBA), public company experience, food service/distribution experience.
Experience with supervision and/or project leadership.
AS400 and Blackline experience or exposure to other major ERP applications.
