Job Summary:
Job Title: Accounting Intern
Reports To: Accounting Manager
Status: Hourly
Under the direction of Accounting Department Leadership, the Accounting Intern will have the opportunity to learn Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger Entry and Reconciliation processes as well as Financial Reporting.
This is an opportunity to develop accounting skills, experience professional growth, and make significant contributions to our company.
The primary focus of this position will be processing company-wide expenses with additional opportunities to participate on finance/accounting related process improvement projects and responsibilities.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Process accounts payable (AP) invoices ensuring transactions are processed timely and accurately
Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts
Reconcile vendor statements against AP records in financial system
Identify and implement process improvements in accounts payable
Develop in depth knowledge of accounting software platforms; assist with system conversions and implementation
Build and maintain positive working relationships
Complete other accounting-related projects and responsibilities
Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Working towards a degree in business related field (preferably accounting or finance); junior or senior standing preferred
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to deliver presentations
High degree of attention to detail
Continuous improvement mindset
High degree of professionalism
Exceptional time management skills
Working knowledge of basic computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
)
Ability to work independently and within a group setting
