This is a financial/accounting support position in the Treasurer's Office that performs specialized billing, receipting and recording of revenues and payments.
Employee works under moderate supervision and exercises independent judgment in performing various financial record keeping functions, while assisting the Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer in the discharge of the duties of the Office of Treasurer.
This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.
Pay Range: $17.

Receives and processes general receipts, balances them to the cash book.
Receives and processes tax payments, by mail or over the counter.
Verifies for accuracy the amounts and names against the check received.
Balances delinquent tax payments monthly.
Reconciles tax accounts to general ledger and cash book.
Receives monies, makes change, and is responsible for individual cash drawer.
Balances out cash drawer with receipts on a daily basis.
Balances and applies payments to retiree insurance to retiree program.
Verifies payment received for accuracy and completeness.
Foreclosures – Has primary responsibility for compiling list of delinquent taxpayers for which the foreclosure action takes place.
Researches property for foreclosures, lien holders, and mortgage holders and send list to title companies for title searches, using a computer.
Prepares and mails list of foreclosures that have been filed with the courts.
Prepares bids for sale of foreclosed properties by filling out form on the computer to show description of property, acreage, assessment, minimum bid, etc.
Lottery Credit for Taxpayers – Has primary responsibility for maintaining the lottery database within the in-house tax system.
Keeps up on state guidelines on who is eligible for lottery credits and works with local municipalities on maintaining the records for completeness.
Processes bankruptcy information, which includes setting up collection/payment schedules and maintaining records and working with Corporation Counsel on proceedings.
Responds to inquiries and looks up information at counter and on the telephone, using the computer terminal and printer.
Gives payoff amounts and copies for realtors, financial institutions, attorneys and local treasurers.
Maintains record of agreements for monthly tax payments.
In the absence of the County Treasurer and Deputy County Treasurer, is responsible for assuming the duties of office as prescribed within the Wisconsin State Statues and policies of the County Treasurer.
In this public service position, employee is required to be courteous, cooperative and respectful at all times, with the public and clients.
Also establishes and maintains a courteous, cooperative and respectful working relationship with other employees, supervisors and public officials.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION •Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related.
•Experience in financial record-keeping and cash receipting.
•Preference for experience in property tax administration and/or reading and understanding legal land descriptions.
•Excellent organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail and customer service skills.
•Proficiency and experience using Excel spreadsheets.
•May consider other combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job duties.
