Jackson Electric is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and a passion for serving our Cooperative's members.
The Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the Cooperative's overall financial health.
*Job Duties and Responsibilities: *
* Prepares and completes financial and expense reports, including CEO, management, and employee expenses, monthly credit card reconciliations, travel reimbursement, director per diems, and expenses.
* Assists with accounting functions, including bank reconciliations, balance sheet account reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, etc.
* Prepares and examines financial records, identifies areas of opportunity and risk, and provides solutions for the Cooperative.
* Ensures the accuracy of financial records, the evaluation of financial and data risks, and the proper and timely payment of taxes.
* Assists with the preparation of month-end financials provided to management and the Board of Directors.
* Prepares and enters invoices into A/P system for payment processing.
Matches invoices and packing slips.
Routes to the appropriate manager for approval.
Runs checklist and ACH for payment to vendors.
* Prepares A/R statements, prints, and mails.
* Assists Finance Manager in preparing CFC Form 7, monthly reports, and special equipment forms.
* Provides accurate reporting, accounting, and filing of Wisconsin Sales and Use Tax, motor vehicle fuel tax refunding, and 1099.
Assists with vendor and member W-9 forms.
* Provides accurate accounting for fixed assets (CPRs) and special equipment and maintains accurate depreciation accounting for fixed assets records.
* Prepares necessary paperwork and provides support for the annual audit.
* Assists Finance Manager with reports, analysis, and budgets.
* Oversees generator program and JacksonSolar financials.
Provides management with monthly reports detailing total revenue, cost of labor, cost of goods, expenses, profit, and five-year projections.
* Assists members with capital credits estate settlements.
Processes necessary paperwork and provides reports to the Board of Directors.
* Assists members who come into the office, call in or through email, receive payments, and respond to inquiries and complaints.
* Other duties as assigned.
*Qualifications: *
* A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or the equivalent of five years of utility cooperative finance experience is preferred.
* An associate degree in accounting with equivalent work experience is acceptable.
* Must have a valid driver's license.
* One-year general office administration required, previous customer account or electric utility experience preferred.
* Must attain and maintain proficiency in utility-specific and other software programs utilized by the Cooperative.
The ability to maintain confidentiality is required.
Attention to detail, a high level of accuracy, and excellent customer service skills are required.
Must be able to manage multiple projects with good judgment.
* Must be able to operate office equipment such as a computer, phone system, copier, scanner, fax machine, ten-key, and printer.
Must possess and maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
