The Sports, Therapeutic and Adaptive Recreation (STAR) Association is looking for an energetic individual with organizational and leadership skills, and with direct experience with individuals with disabilities in the recreational environment.
Participants are from grade school to older adults with a broad spectrum of disabilities.
Programs include a variety of para sports and adaptive recreation and specialized exercise programs.
The candidate will work closely with and report to the Program Coordinator & Facilitator.
This position is a mix of hands-on work with participants and administrative support.
*JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*
*Direct Programming 70%*
* Assist coaching and instruction on technique and equipment in para and adaptive sports for participants when needed
* Assure that appropriate equipment is available for sessions including preparation of equipment trailers
* Facilitate programs with participants
* Assist in planning and running sport clinics
*Administrative and Organizational Support 30%*
* Develop, promote and facilitate current and new adaptive programming
* Coordinate with community partners
* Coordination of university student experiences
* Recruitment and training of volunteers
* Assure all programs adhere to national governing body requirements
* Track all volunteers for appropriate certifications (Safesport/background checks)
* Assist with fundraising activities
* Assist in management of social media and marketing of programs
* Collect evaluations and outcomes on programs for grant reports
* Assist with grant applications
* Develop policy for employees and volunteers
* Promote mission of organization
* Assist with developing budgets for programs

Salary; average 40 hours per week
Requires evening and weekend hours
*Salary: *
$42,000 to $50,000 commensurate with experience, plus health insurance, PTO, continuing education funds and retirement plan.
*Requirements:*
* Degree in Recreation Management – Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Adaptive PE, Adaptive Physical Activity, Sports Science or related field
* Safe Sport, First Aid, AED, CPR certification within first 3 months
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
* Travel between sites/program locations
* Ability to work remotely/at home office
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs
* Ability to lift 50 lbs frequently
* Ability to physically do core job requirements with or without accommodations
* Successfully pass a background and drug screen test
