Position Summary
The Coordinator of Student Conduct serves the Student Affairs Division in Student life by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and other community resources to promote inclusivity, student success, and development.
This position will report directly to the Assistant Dean of Students for Student Support and Conduct and will be responsible for implementing and administering the UW System Code of Conduct for reports of academic and non-academic misconduct.
Duties/responsibilities 65% Conduct Officer Duties Review incident reports, meet with complainants and accused students, investigate, and resolve moderate to serious allegations of academic and non-academic misconduct.
Represent the University for all Chapter UWS 14, 17, and 18 student conduct hearings.
Serve as a resource to administrators, faculty, staff, and students regarding UW System Code of Conduct and assist in ensuring university-wide compliance to the policies and procedures set forth in the code.
Ensures that student conduct is administered in a fair, impartial, non-adversarial, restorative, and educational manner through the recruitment and training of conduct officers and the hearing board.
Serve as a liaison to the Office of Residence Life related to student conduct matters and ensure consistency in protocols and sanctions.
Work with University Police, La Crosse Police, and other area law enforcement officials on incidents of student misconduct on and off-campus.
Serve as Level-4 user for Maxient and develop proficiency in the administration of Maxient and assist in training other campus users.
Conduct an audit Maxient with campus partners on an annual basis.
Serve as a Title IX Investigator and collaborate with the University Title IX Coordinator to conduct Title IX investigations or any reports of gender-based misconduct.
Serve as a mediator and Restorative Justice practitioner in conduct and Title IX cases.
Review and consider conduct situations and accountability in a culturally competent manner.
Follow up with appropriate completion of assigned sanctions.
Coordinate the recruitment, appointment, and training of conduct hearing panels and hearing examiners.
25% Student Life Specialist Duties Serve as an advocate for student needs and issues when appropriate.
Counsel and serve as a resource for students experiencing personal, social, emotional, and/or academic problems.
Provide communication, support, and assistance to faculty with extended and excessive student absences and other student issues.
Work with and provide information to the Academic Services Directors concerning student academic appeals and other issues as they arise.
Provide support and connection for campus response to incidents of violence or incivility.
Meet with students who are considering withdrawing from the university.
Facilitate and manage the withdrawal process, including coordination and follow up with medical withdraws.
10% Miscellaneous Provide oversight and implementation of Student Life compliance needs including the Drug-Free Schools Act, RPD 4-21 (Commitment to Academic Freedom and Freedom of Expression) as well as other federal, state, and UW System legal requirements.
Participate and be involved in campus, divisional, and UW System committees that impact Student Life, student conduct, and/or students in distress.
