The Wisconsin Challenge Academy is currently seeking a Teacher, that will be working with youth 16-18 years old.
The Wisconsin Challenge Academy is a residential alternative education program designed to reclaim the lives of youth and produce graduates with the education, strength of character, and self-discipline necessary to succeed as adults and become responsible citizens.

Position Summary This position instructs and educates Cadets enrolled in the Wisconsin National Guard Challenge Academy (WINGCA) and follows a well-defined and outlined teaching program in general education development classes as well as teaching and providing support with specialized classes to promote the acquisition of daily living skills.
The teacher will provide group and individual instruction, evaluate progress, and prescribe appropriate remediation.
Responsibilities include maintenance and evaluation of academic records, reporting data as required, and acting as an education sponsor to individual cadets.
The teacher will monitor and manage cadet behavior, attend staff meetings, serve on school and program committees and serve as an academy team member.
The teacher will, upon request provide training to staff, interns, and others, and engage in specialized instruction and special projects.
Salary Information The starting compensation for the Teacher position will be $24.
00 to $27.
00 per hour ($49,920 to $56,160 annually) plus a generous benefits package (13-04).
A 12-month probation will be required.
For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Job Details · This position requires a background check due to access to a vulnerable population.
· This position requires a valid driver’s license.
· This position requires possession or eligibility to obtain before appointment a State Certification by Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) at the middle/secondary or high school level (6-12, 7-12, or 9-12) in one or more academic area, or certified or eligible for Administrative certification by Wisconsin DPI.
· This position is required to acquire and maintain the certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training as prescribed by the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: · Qualified applicants must possess, or be currently eligible to possess, a current Teacher License issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
The license must be for the middle/secondary or high school level (grades 6-12) in one or more academic areas.
Well-Qualified Applicants: · Knowledge of current academic or vocational teaching methods, practices, and aids in a residential environment Knowledge of educational psychology and curriculum planning Experience in classroom management working with diverse populations Experience working with at-risk youth in individual or small and large group settings Experience with and the ability to clearly articulate programs, policies, practices and procedures to 16-18 years olds Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team in a quasi-military environment How To Apply Apply online!
