Don’t buy a dodge.
Get a Ford, but if you prefer to buy an old dodge, consider getting this POS out of my driveway.
2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4, remarkably low on rust… for its age.
Only 109k miles.
Previous owner used it for towing an RV trailer and parked in a shed the rest of the time.
Not sure before him.
I bought it as a farm truck and for hauling logs/brush (I log for a living).
When I bought it, I put new brake lines on it, just in case of rust.
I also put in new trailer controller/wiring and load range E tires in the back for towing.
Tires are in great shape.
It’s done well, for a dodge.
Some mechanical stuff, but most of it is what you’d expect on an old farm truck.
Parking brake line broken, but I didn’t need it.
Speed sensor in the back is going bad, so check engine light stays on.
Abs light too.
The speedometer only works about 50% of the time.
I can show you the codes for the check engine light if interested.
Mechanic said the sensor would be a cheap part to fix, but has the potential to open a can of worms, so I didn’t think it was worth replacing (for me).
The steering is drifty, like all old dodge trucks are.
If you’ve had one, you know what I’m talking about.
Bad gas mileage, but that’s normal too.
4x4 sometimes needs to be shifted in/out more than once to engage, but works well once it does.
Overall, this dodge POS might make someone else a good farm truck.
I got a Ford upgrade and my wife wants it gone.
