Summary of Role The Chaseburg Production Team Lead is responsible for leading and directing the operations of the butter production line and its team members.
The butter crew is responsible for the printing and packaging of butter as well as the sanitation of various production and storage areas.
This position will also be responsible for the sanitation of the production areas and machines, on a rotating basis.
This role directs and guides staff towards common goals created by the Production Supervisor.
This role is also responsible for keeping documentation updated and training new staff on all required Chaseburg butter duties.
The Chaseburg Production Team Lead also assists the Production Supervisor with projects and assignments as needed.
This is a safety sensitive role.
The Creamery is open 365 days a year including holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead and direct the operations of the butter production line, which includes but is not limited to; training and re-training team members as necessary, equipment and packaging setup, process and equipment operations, quality verifications/checks, documentation/paperwork, general troubleshooting, equipment teardown, filling and directing downtime with productive alternatives and making sure each crew member is able to perform all tasks relating to the butter operation.
Follow direction of the Production Supervisor and lead the crew by example in a professional manner.
Assist maintenance members as needed to operate and troubleshoot any problematic equipment.
Ensure crew members are following procedures regarding operation, GMP, cleaning and health/food safety.
Perform daily assembly/disassembly, cleaning (CIP/COP), and sanitizing of production equipment.
Complete all ATP test swabbing and document results for assigned areas.
Operate case/carton printers, butter packer, case packer, bulk filler, microfix machine and butter churn as assigned.
Assist with palletizing, shrink-wrapping, and tagging pallets to prepare for shipping.
Obtain certification, for regular use, on electric pallet jacks.
Assist with the plant quality program including taking quality samples and use of quality testing equipment including operation of the X-ray detector and recording scale weights.
Accurately complete record keeping paperwork and logbooks.
Hand pack/tape cases, as needed.
Safely use the chemical system to distribute and utilize accurate quantities of approved sanitation chemicals.
This includes proper labeling/transportation of chemicals using designated containers.
Assure equipment and areas are sanitary and fully operational prior to start of production.
General housekeeping, cleaning, and sanitizing of various areas.
Follow and comply with appropriate federal and state regulations and CROPP Cooperative programs, policies, and best practices.
Follow and comply with applicable good manufacturing, safety, and quality assurance policies and practices.
Read and understand critical information and comply with related instructions, such as, but not limited to, chemical use and labels, Safety Data Sheets, Personal Protective Equipment and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
Assist in completing assigned daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly sanitation tasks.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities Assist with general plant cleaning and/or property maintenance as needed.
Assist at various production areas of the co-op when there is no production at the creamery.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Previous experience/training with leading of others is preferred, but not required.
Basic understanding of machine operations.
Basic computer skills preferred.
Understanding of good manufacturing practices.
Strong attention to detail.
Must be able to work weekends.
Sanitation experience in a food processing environment preferred.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Handwriting must be neat and legible.
Ability to stand for long periods of time and duration of shift.
Ability to read and interpret critical information and follow specific instructions.
Ability to frequently lift/carry up to 60 pounds, occasionally lift (up to) 80 pounds with assistance, ability to push/pull up to 2,500 pounds using material handling equipment.
Ability to occasionally bend, twist/turn, reach above shoulders, and climb throughout the shift as needed while using proper body mechanics.
Manual dexterity to perform frequent wrist twisting and bending motions.
Ability to safely work with hot liquids and required sanitation chemicals, including use of necessary PPE properly.
Base hourly wage range: $16.
