Position Summary *This is a confidential position in the Vernon County IT Department.
This position assists staff with technical support of desktop computers, applications, and related technology.
Support includes computer hardware, peripherals, software, and to provide general IT assistance.
You will be considered Vernon County’s front liner and will solve basic technical problems and provide support for all county departments.

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities* This position description has been prepared to assist in evaluating duties, responsibilities and skills of the position.

It is understood that the Supervisor has the right to assign, direct, and modify duties and responsibilities listed and that duties not mentioned that are of similar kind or level of difficulty shall not be excluded.
Vernon County has the right to re-evaluate all positions on a continuous basis in determining the need for the position along with the availability of funding.
The following duties are normal for this position.
These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
· Respond to tech inquiries via email, over the phone, or in person.
· Perform troubleshooting for software and hardware.
· Provides technical support to users by researching and answering questions, troubleshooting problems, and maintain workstations and LAN performance.
· Communicate with users to determine scope of problem.
· Inform staff on the use of county software and services.
· Monitor operations of computers and maintain inventory files of the county’s computers, servers, and other hardware & software.
· Improves internal guides by writing and maintaining documentation.
· Maintain and troubleshoot video conferencing equipment.
· Test and implement new technologies as appropriate.
· Create, edit, archive, and maintain accounts in Active Directory, phone server, and any other system software as necessary.
· Communicates with other IT staff for assistance or to pass information along.

Related Job Functions* · Responsible for working safety practices and standards of the facility; responsible for reporting and/or correcting any existing or potential safety or accident hazard.
· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and others.
· Attend staff meetings, training sessions, off-site classes, and seminars related to job skills.
· Perform routine clerical tasks such as sorting, indexing, recording, filing, and typing as required.
· Familiar with Federal, State, and local agencies and their programs and coordinate these programs with County programs.
· Perform related work as required or directed.
· Maintain knowledge regarding information technology systems.
Attend conferences, seminars, workshops, and continuing training sessions.
· Research industry trends, hardware, and software for potential county applications.

Physical Demands* Physical Ability to use fine and gross motor skills to perform tasks such as operating a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and computer.
Exert effort in moderate to heavy work, such as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, and standing for long periods of time.
In non-routine situations, it is necessary to do high (50-80 lbs.
) handling/lifting/pushing/pulling.

Education and Training Requirements* · Associate degree, technical degree, or technical certificates in a related field preferred.
· Ability to arrange and coordinate schedules with ability to plan, organize, and prioritize.
· Considerable knowledge of computer programs, functions, hardware, software, networks, and connections.
· Ability to analyze and categorize data and information in order to determine the relationship of data with reference to established criteria/standards.
· Ability to work in a pleasant and understanding manner with the general public, county officials, co-workers, vendors, etc.
· Considerable knowledge of the departmental/governmental programs, operations, and policies with respect to general functions performed.
· Ability to train others in the use of software and hardware applications.
· Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.
· Knowledge of Windows Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $22.
77 - $29.
