I'm an advisor to a group of high school students who have an idea - setting up a classified ads website for students to buy and sell from each other.
They would need to open an account with a high school email address (like a schoolname with a dot org) in order to post a listing or in order to contact a lister, but anyone could go on the site and browse.
There would be only a few Categories (For Sale, Community, Services), and no dollar amounts listed - all transactions would be with Points that the students earn for good grades, good attendance, exceptional effort, etc.
(be like "two fidget spinners 100 points each", or "Red Raiders stocking cap 300 points").
So, kind of a minimalistic version of Craigslist.
We have a domain, hosted now by Hostinger, and have tinkered with using a free theme and plugins on WordPress but they are not very user-friendly.
We are thinking we might have to buy a classified theme - which is ok, we've got a small development fund for this project thanks to a few of the parents - but we really would like to have some help from someone who either has done something like this before or knows how to do it, which theme we should buy, and who could help walk us through setting it up.
Couldn't pay much, hundred bucks or so, but if you are experienced with WordPress (or any classified or directory setups) it should be a simple gig for you.
And who knows, if this little project goes over great and other schools want to start up something similar, it could be the opportunity for a lot of work at a much better pay scale.
