As an administrator, this person supports and advances a campus culture of equity and belonging within the division, as well as throughout the college community.
This position is responsible for innovative program development and revision at the college in consultation with the vice president of student success (VPSS), faculty, and other division deans to meet the needs of area business and industry.
In addition, this position requires interaction with external accrediting bodies, community programs, and regional stakeholders that support student learning.
The dean participates as part of the Student Success team and a member of the Strategic Planning and Executive committees.
The incumbent stays current in their field and in classroom pedagogy in order to support state-of-the-art instruction at the college.
RESPONSIBILITIES Provide strategic instructional leadership for the academic division with a focus on faculty development, continuous improvement, and a vital program mix.
Promote and support the college vision for effective teaching and learning in the areas of assessment of student learning, faculty development, curriculum development, instructional technology, instructional design, and online learning.
Identify, collaborate with, and support suitable internship and supervised occupational learning sites.
Champion a continuous quality improvement process, including the development, implementation and review of instructional programs and courses (i.
e.
Program Review).
Supervise and coordinate accreditation and certification activities at the programmatic level.
Participate in regularly scheduled committees/meetings, and serve on other committees as assigned.
Collaborate with the VPSS, faculty, and other key stakeholders in the identification and selection cutting edge program development to meet market needs.
Provide statistics and research guidance to departments to aid in data-driven decision making.
Keep current on national, statewide, and programmatic trends, issues, legislation, and political action affecting programs and services.
Monitor enrollments in all academic areas to promote fiscal integrity.
Ensure the college’s commitment to diversity is reflected in both staffing and in the content of instructional programs and courses.
Develop annual planning objectives, performance standards and evaluative criteria with appropriate staff.
Develop, recommend, and implement MinnState and MSC Southeast academic affairs policies.
Supervise and evaluate personnel (professional, technical and support staff) in assigned areas.
Develop position descriptions, as needed, in cooperation with Human Resources.
In cooperation with Human Resources, recruit qualified, full and part-time personnel.
Coordinate orientation, mentoring and professional development programs for personnel.
Evaluate full and part-time instructional faculty.
As Supervisor of record, maintain appropriate records.
Fulfill the obligations, action components, and KPIs of the college academic and strategic plan.
Manage budgets and fiscal health in assigned areas.
Recommend budgetary requirements for personnel and non-personnel areas.
Monitor budgetary expenditures and modify budgets so that resources are handled appropriately.
Administer budgets to assure that needs are met and fiscal integrity is maintained.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with faculty, students, community agencies, advisory committees, business and industry and other groups.
Accessible and responsive to faculty, students, staff and community.
Maintain communications with system office staff, and other system administrators in similar areas of responsibility.
Promote cooperation with industry, regional high schools, upper division colleges and interagency groups.
Work with faculty, advisory committees and business personnel to assess needs and evaluate effectiveness of instructional programs.
Identify and develop new programs to meet changing needs of area industries focused on long-term viability.
Assist in public relations, publicity and other communication systems.
Required Qualifications Three (3) or more years of career, trade, or technical program or industry experience.
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
Highly effective communication skills.
Demonstrated evidence of innovation in higher education Ability to manage and execute day-to-day operational requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with individuals of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
