Overview and Responsibilities:
Saint Mary's University of Minnesota invites ongoing applications for course-contracted (adjunct) faculty to plan and teach assigned courses in one or more disciplines for which they are qualified, and to support a range of current or potential course needs in our undergraduate curriculum.
Employment as a course-contracted faculty member is based on individual course assignments and contracts will align with the needs of the College from semester to semester.
We are especially interested in and give preference to candidates who demonstrate a vision to create and nurture initiatives that will advance our mission within the scope of their duties and who will foster a culture of dialogue that, with respect for all people, supports the search for meaning and purpose in pursuit of excellence.
We seek qualified adjuncts for a variety of undergraduate disciplines, including: Business, History, Biology, Education, English, Music (various), Computer Science, Theatre (various), Math, Political Science, Sociology, Health Humanities, and other disciplines.
Instructors from other disciplines are also welcome to apply.
Teaching opportunities may exist at our Winona, MN campus, online, or in a blended format.
Most in-person courses are taught during regular business hours, and most online courses are offered asynchronously.
Applicants are preferred who can demonstrate a commitment to advancing Saint Mary’s Lasallian Catholic identity and mission, interdisciplinary teaching and learning, the integration of the liberal arts within the professions, methods of character and virtue education, the holistic residential campus experience, and/or the Catholic Intellectual Tradition in relation to their discipline.
This posting is continuously open, and qualified applicants will be part of a candidate pool for regular periodic review and course assignment throughout the year.
Among their primary functions, applicants must be able to:
Teach course(s) assigned by following the material provided by the dean’s office or the program chair.
Answer student inquiries in a timely manner.
Grade students’ performance fairly and according to the College’s standards & policies.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic progress.
Employ a variety of instructional strategies to support and motivate students.
Qualifications:
Master’s or terminal degree in assigned discipline (or a master’s degree plus 18 graduate credit hours within assigned discipline)
Previous teaching experience strongly preferred.
Experience using instructional technology is required.
