Description
The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 1.
0 FTE Limited Term Contract German Teacher shared between Logan Middle School and Longfellow Middle School for the remainder of the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year.
Projected start date: As soon as possible.
Wisconsin certification 1370 is required.
Prefer applicants possessing the following qualifications:
Strong demonstrated mission to be an educator.
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with the middle level learner.
Excellent ability to speak, read, and write the language.
Excellent ability to develop students’ proficiency in oral and written communication in the language.
Strong background in the “Middle School Philosophy.
”
An emphasis on “people skills” including positive problem solving, collaboration, teamwork, and respect.
Desire to be on the ‘cutting edge’ of educational innovation.
Strong background in current methodology in literature, grammar and reading instruction.
Excellent background in current teaching and learning strategies.
Exemplary understanding of and implementation of technologies with the middle level learner and how the use of these technologies can further higher order thinking skills.
The ability to analyze, synthesize and implement data that supports and enhances student academic and affective learning.
Course work and/or training relevant to student management such as Positive Behavior Supports (PBIS) and Responsive Classroom.
Timeliness in meeting deadlines, requests and other professional responsibilities.
The ability to provide a safe and positive learning environment for students.
Adaptable and flexible in terms of educational changes to meet student learning needs.
Lifelong learning commitment through credentials which reflect post-secondary training, conference attendance, and membership in professional and civic organizations.
Position responsibilities:
Develops and implements lessons which reflect district curriculum, and which integrate age and developmentally appropriate practices for middle level students.
Collaboratively works with teammates, and colleagues to integrate the core subject areas (math, science, language arts, and social studies) with emphasis on higher-level thinking, research, and technology integration.
Understands, implements, and can successfully assess the work of students for evidence of student learning through their intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth.
Maintains accurate student progress and behavioral records.
Adept at innovative and creative approaches to reaching all students via differentiation.
This differentiation includes all students-regular education, English Language Learners (ELL), High Performance Learners (HPL), and Special Education.
Interprets individual student progress to parents, students and other professionals through positive conferencing techniques.
Active participation in continuous professional improvement.
This includes staff development and other professional growth opportunities provided by the district and as well as those pursued by the individual teacher.
Maintains positive home-school communications and relationships.
Maintains a positive and safe learning environment for students.
Completes additional tasks as requested by administrators.
