Description
The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 1.
0 FTE Health Assistant at Spence Elementary School.
Projected start date: As soon as possible.
The Health Assistant with be responsible for the administration of medication and first aid under the direction of the school nurse.
Health training will be provided by the school district.
This is a certified position.
Certified Teacher Assistant positions require a Special Education Program Aide License from the Department of Public Instruction ($100.
00 expense to employee with reimbursement from the district once approved.

Position Responsibilities:
• Provide for the health needs of students including dispensing of medications and first aid.
• Administer first aid and/or CPR to any student and/or adult in the building.
• Provide consistent health care and be able to identify continuing health problems of students.
• Work closely with the school district nurses.
• Maintain health records as directed by school nurse.
• Contact parents with regard to need for follow-up from the medical profession.
• Assist in inventory control.
• Assist with the supervision of students.
• Complete additional building tasks as requested by administrators.
• Work with colleagues to support classrooms and building needs.

Qualifications
Required qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of education beyond high school or 48 post high school credits preferred.
• In lieu of post high school education, acceptable proficiency scores for WorkKeys ACT is required.
• Medical training or experience desirable.
• LPN diploma or medical assistant diploma preferred.
• Some paid or volunteer experience working with children in an educational or child care setting, or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the knowledge and abilities for job assignment.
• Word processing skills and basic computer knowledge required and bookkeeping abilities helpful.
• Knowledge of various office equipment.
