Description
The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 1.
0 FTE Art Teacher at Spence Elementary School beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.
Projected start date: August 27, 2024
Wisconsin certification 1550 is required.
Prefer applicants possessing the following qualifications:
• Knowledge of current practices and methodologies in the teaching of art.
• Knowledge of and ability to teach students with special needs.
• Knowledge of and ability to effectively use technology in the art classroom.
• Knowledge of and ability to collaborate with classroom teachers and extend learning in the classroom through the use of art (e.
g.
use art to extend grade level and building wide units of study to internationalize the curriculum).
Skills necessary include:
• Excellence in following a sequential, discipline-based art curriculum.
• Excellence in working with children to develop individual creativity.
• Experience in using the computer and other technology as instructional and management tools.
• Excellence in working with other staff members.
Position responsibilities:
• Develops and plans instructional activities, lesson plans and/or individual educational plans.
• Conducts classroom instruction based on established curriculum.
• Monitors student performance and behavior and takes appropriate action.
• Participates in parent/teacher conferences.
Interprets student strengths, weaknesses, and/or problems a student may be experiencing in the classroom.
• Collaborates with other staff in evaluating individual student problems, approaches to instructional units, and new teaching technologies or procedures available.
• Develops student assessments and evaluates results.
Determines student grades for instructional units.
• Maintains and provides accurate records as required.
• Participates in curriculum review, staff development and/or training, and keeps abreast of information in the field of education.
• Promotes the School District of La Crosse art program within the community.
• Completes additional tasks as required by administrators.
