Now is a good time to reserve your pick of our quality registered black angus bulls.
We are Rick and Susan Case and we are also “Hawk Valley Angus” of rural Ontario, Wi.
We have been in the Angus business for 43 years at this location.
Check out our website at www.
hawkvalleyangus.
com to learn more about us and our philosophy about raising quality breeding stock.
Like many of you, we had the driest year we can remember.
We raise no row crops or alfalfa.
Our entire operation is based on grass.
First crop was very disappointing and second crop never happened.
Due to rotational grazing our pastures lasted longer than most of our neighbors, but did give out on us.
We started to feed hay to the herd the second week in July.
Due to the drought our weaning weights averaged just short of 100 pounds lighter than we are use to.
The actual birth weights of our bulls ranged from 88# to 72# with an average of 80#.
Our 205 day adjusted weights of our bulls ranged from 739# to 626# with an average of 676#, again, about 100 pounds behind most years.
Once weaned they started to make up the difference in weights, today we can hardly see it.
We are offering bulls sired by: Deer Valley Growth Fund, Bar R Jet Black 5063, Basin Payweight 1682, and Mill Coulee Growth Fund 107.
We have bred for Calving Ease and Docility without giving up performance.
Our bulls have won numerous bull tests in Wi.
and IA.
We no longer enter bull test and prefer to market our animals privately.
Bull tests are very expense and we feel we can pass the savings we realize onto our customers.
A $500.
00 deposit reserves your pick of the offering.
The first deposit received reserves the first pick, etc.
, etc.
Usually in April we have our customers come out, in reserved pick order, to select their bull.
Of course all are welcome to come out to look at them at anytime.
It is fun to see them develop and mature.
With having to have purchased so much expensive hay we prefer to have the bulls removed by the first of May.
