Employees in this position are appointed by the Clerk of Circuit Court, and are deputized primarily for convenience in the administration of oaths and to perform tasks in the absence of the Chief Deputy and/or Clerk of Circuit Court.
Employees perform specialized tasks as well as general clerical tasks under the supervision of the Chief Deputy or Clerk of Circuit Court, or the Judge of a specific Court.
This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.
Wage Range: $20.

This includes entering data in the computer (docketing) such as lists of evidence presented to the court, who presented it and when.
It also includes handling evidence and marking exhibits, and ensuring all evidence is accounted for when turned over to the Court Records Clerk.
Enters papers filed in action and dockets (records) judgments and keeps index of same.
Swears in witnesses, jurors, etc.
Keeps minutes of the Court.
This includes recording court proceeding continuance dates and information regarding sentencing using a computer.
Types various documents, correspondence and records.
Files documents, correspondence and other records of the office.
Distributes court orders such as admissions to, or releases from, the County Jail to the appropriate authorities such as the Sheriff.
Answers questions from the general public and attorneys relative to court matters when permissible.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities General knowledge of court proceedings.
Knowledge of legal terminology and legal papers and processing of same.
General knowledge of the laws governing the operation of the Clerk of Courts office.
Knowledge of up-to-date office practices and use of office equipment, including computers.
Good ability in filing.
Typing ability stressing accuracy with above-average speed.
Ability to work with the general public, attorneys and other county employees in the performance of assigned tasks.
Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
Training, Experience and Other Requirements Graduation from an accredited high school, preferably supplemented by advanced schooling in secretarial and office work.
Minimum of two (2) years of office experience with a preference for court experience, or for experience in a legal office.
Must be skilled in the use of MS Word.
May consider other relevant combinations of experience and training.
