*JOB SUMMARY:*
Directed and supervised by the Daycare Director, the Lead Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the daily educational and social activities of the children enrolled at the Preschool Childcare Center.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:*
1.
Complete development and social-emotional screenings on children within 45 days of enrollment.
2.
Planning, implementation and supervision of the daily activities for a specified group of children.
3.
Providing a safe, warm, nurturing as well as clean and healthy environment within the center.
4.
Keep an accurate attendance count of the children under their care at all times.
5.
Set up and maintain child portfolios and doing observations on each child in their care.
6.
Required to complete at least one parent conference yearly with each family.
7.
Follow all state regulations and center policies.
8.
Ensures the availability of necessary developmental programs.
9.
Documents and reports instances of suspected and/or known child abuse as required by law.
10.
Plans each day’s activities to fulfill overall program requirements.
11.
Follows the Preschool Childcare Centers and USDA nutrition guidelines.
12.
Works directly with children, supervising their individual and group learning, indoor and outdoor play activities, field trips, music, art, hygiene and nutrition programs.
13.
Assesses educational and emotional development of each child.
14.
Designs an educationally comprehensive program to meet the individual needs of children enrolled.
15.
Plans each day’s activities to fulfill the overall program requirements.
16.
Prepares daily notes to keep families informed about the activities of the classroom and each child’s individual progress or any staff changes,.
17.
Supervises and evaluates performance of teacher assistants.
18.
Assesses and develop daily classroom schedules and post for easy reference.
19.
Attends staff meetings, in-service training etc.
20.
Maintains centers cleanliness and order on a daily and weekly schedule.
21.
Assures compliance with state and federal codes.
22.
Maintains good relationships with other community agencies and partners.
23.
Accepts other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor.

*QUALIFICATIONS:*
1.
Must be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 3 months of employment.
2.
Demonstrates knowledge of ages and stages of development.
3.
Ability to pass Criminal Background check and health screening including TB
4.
A minimum Registry level 7
5.
Able to fulfill 25 hours of continuing education
6.
Ability to lift 25 pounds.
