Job Title: Swiss Supervisor
Immediate Supervisor Swiss Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary: This position is responsible for being able to effectively supervise the Swiss Cheese Department (both production and personnel).
This is a 12hr night shift (2-2-3) rotation.
The Swiss Supervisor also assists and supports the Department Manger with daily required tasks and responsibilities.
The Supervisor must have an overall general knowledge of all production processes within the Swiss Department, as well as a full understanding of all company policies.
Supervisors should consistently put forth effort to bring continual improvement and success to both the Department and Company overall.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Understand, follow, and enforce all company policies, procedures, and protocols.
· Understand the flow of operation and be able to assist with the training of new employees.
· Conduct daily shift meetings and assist with incident investigations when needed
· Complete daily paperwork, review dockets, and finish assigned tasks in a timely manner.
· Understand the importance of confidentiality; keep organized, neat, and accurate records.
· Occasionally be available outside normal working hours for meetings, trainings, and assist with covering other dept.
management absences when possible.
· Communicate with the Management team about production and performance issues and help in finding resolution
· Be able to maintain a calm and professional demeanor during high stress times
· Always follow and enforce company polices, safety rules, GMPs.
· At times, make judgement calls when personnel or production issues arise as well complete the proper reporting process (work orders, production concerns, employee incidents, etc).
· Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
· High School diploma required.
2 - 4 year post secondary degree in related field preferred
· 1-3 years food industry experience (dairy) preferred.
3-5 years supervisory or management experience
· Effective oral and written communication skills are required to maintain an effective working relationship with managers, supervisors and other plant members.
· Possess strong time management skills and have the ability to work independently when needed
· Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
· Familiarity working with data and inventory management programs.
· Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data effectively and communicate results and recommendations to plant management team.
· Understanding of basic production equipment trouble shooing, maintenance, calibration processes
· Must be able to verbally communicate, understand, read, and write in the English language.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods of time.
The employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms on a repetitive basis.
The employee must be able to push/pull/move up to 100 pounds and lift up to 50 pounds.
Requires visual acuity to review written documentations; ability to hear and understand speech.
There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
There is exposure to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and exposure to heat/cold temperature changes.
