Job title: Emergency Department (ED) Technician/Unit Coordinator
Schedule: Full-time, 80 hours per pay period
Weekend Rotation: Every 3rd weekend
Holiday Rotation: Required - Paid time off for holidays
Position Summary:
The Emergency Room Assistant position serves as an assistant to ER staff, providing the best patient care possible.
The Unit Coordinator position performs administrative and clerical tasks as needed, including responding to patients' inquiries and concerns, scheduling appointments, sorting medical records, verifying insurance details, and assisting the physician on the care plans and patients' activities.
Position Responsibilities:
Emergency Department Technician:
Clean treatment rooms between patients.
Stock treatment rooms according to supply plan, maintaining adequate linen supply, and monitoring equipment for failures and reports same according to department procedure.
Identify and perform emergency safety procedures.
Maintain call lights within reach, cart locks on patient beds, and other safety equipment deployment as directed by RN such as seizure pads.
Provide surveillance to patients for safety, removing objects from rooms that may be used for self-harm where indicated, and providing surveillance for those with mental health needs as directed by MD or RN.
Transport patients as directed/required.
Report observations and changes in condition of a patient to ensure professional assessment.
Promptly answer patients' call lights and requests for assistance.
Perform I&O recording; check vital signs and weight; specimen collection, and post-mortem care.
Perform EKG testing, rhythm strip documentation, vital signs, and other assistive tasks.
Effectively communicate with other nursing staff, physicians, and other departments to provide excellent patient care/department flow.
Actively engage in creating and maintaining a healthy work environment.
Remove IVs and indwelling catheters and perform bedside blood glucose monitoring.
Perform other duties as requested.
Unit Coordinator Duties:
Schedule patients for appointments.
Complete patient registrations, including patient insurance information.
Receive incoming calls.
Scan information into HER.
Contact and coordinate patient transfers to higher level of care facilities, admissions, or follow up appointments for patients.
Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge.
Maintain patient charts.
Maintain a professional, clean, and organized workstation.
Ensure all medical record paper charts and documented forms are collected and sent to health information.
Plan, organize, and implement non-nursing functions to facilitate workflow and enhance unit productivity.
Providing customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
Order supplies as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Certified Nursing Assistant certification or EMT Course completion required.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
CPR/BLS certification required or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
1+ years of related work experience required.
Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.
Experience working in the medical industry preferred.
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.

Intermediate proficiency with computers is required
Comprehensive nursing assistant skills, including wound treatment.
