General Information:
Job title: Sterile Processing Technician
Schedules Available: Full-time, 80 hours per pay period; Monday - Friday, 8 hour days
Weekend rotation: 8 hour call every 3rd Saturday & Sunday
Holiday rotation: 8 hour call every 3rd holiday
Position Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician position ensures sterility for infection control purposes, including decontamination, reprocessing, and sterilization of all hospital and clinical reusable instruments and devices.
Position Responsibilities:
Ensure sterility for infection control purposes.
Wash used Instruments; reprocess all cleaned instruments.
Count all instruments for each set and make sure sets are complete.
Keep track of loaner instruments and reprocess them for the surgery they are meant for, and clean and return to procedure room.
Maintain current IFU (information for use) for proper care and use of equipment/instruments.
Communicate throughout facility to ensure all departments have the instruments and equipment needed to perform their job duties.
Ensure adequate stock levels and products are rotated according to expiry date.
Reprocess implant trays.
Set up surgery case carts for the next day.
Maintain sterilizer records, sterilizer load records, air flow records, and cleaning records for Joint Commission.
Decontaminates and sterilizes equipment, supplies and instruments.
Washes instrument pans, bins, trays, and carts of various sizes using decontamination processes.

Using OneSource as resource-knowledge sufficient to be able to assemble and wrap appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment.
Maintain sterilizer records, air flow records and other records throughout the department.
Perform other duties as requested.
Position Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Sterile Processing Certificate or related certification preferred.
Experience working with patient care suppliers and equipment is preferred in either materials management, surgery or patient care areas.
1+ years of related work experience required.
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Intermediate proficiency with computers is required.
Knowledge of processes, procedures, quality assurance, chemicals and medical instruments
Must have good telephone manners.
Knowledge of equipment functions, applicable sanitary, infection control, and safety standards.
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to have continuous oral and written communication with co-workers, patients, and supervisors is essential.
