75 Position Summary This position provides administrative and programmatic support for Multicultural Student Services and McNair Scholars and reports to the Directors of those offices.
It is a multi-function position and involves working with personnel, students, and the public from diverse ethnic, cultural, and racial backgrounds, often dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
Essential qualities include advanced interpersonal communication and intercultural skills, computer literacy, expense/budgetary skills, and ability to independently manage and organize numerous responsibilities.
Work is carried out independently under general direction using expertise, discretion, and judgment to successfully achieve the goals and mission of the department/unit.
Responsible for coordinating, training and assisting in the supervision of student office workers within the Department.
This position will work 30 hours per week and may be flexible to a four day work week or five day shorter work day.

Preferred Qualifications More than one-year experience as administrative support in higher education or relevant field.
More than one year budget management experience More than one-year computer skills and knowledge (Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Blumen, WISER, UW Shop+) Associate degree or professional certification.
Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others (student supervision).
Knowledge of budget and appropriation structure, inventory/record keeping.

Willingness to maintain and enhance professional competencies by participating in professional development workshops, seminars, and training sessions, related to current position responsibilities.
