TITLE: Housing Resource Specialist
PROGRAM: Adult Residential Services
JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center Director of Residential Services, the Housing Resource Specialist (HRS) is part of a multi-agency team approach in providing support and housing services.
The HRS is to be actively engaged and involved in outreach to individuals and/or families who experience mental health challenges and/or may be at risk of losing their housing, needing housing support and/or are homeless in Winona County.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Work closely with area agencies, including our internal agency staff for referral for services in order to assist individuals and/or families in identifying appropriate housing opportunities and connection to mental health supports and services.
Provide training to clients in regard to different housing opportunities, budgeting, maintaining a household, and other needs that are deemed necessary.
Provides an understanding of Tenant and Landlord rights or connects people to legal and professional resources as needed.
Be a part of the Local, State, and National plans to end homelessness.
Work in conjunction and in collaboration within the agency team, as well as with representatives from SEMCHRA and Winona HRA, Local Homeless Response Team, or other housing related initiatives.
Create client centered plans that are updated as scheduled for specific housing programs.
Screen individuals and/or families for services provided to the Homeless Response Team, Day Programs, or County Social Services.
Provide technical assistance to human services staff on how to gain access to affordable housing resources and support services for individuals with disabilities and/or low income.
Take phone calls, schedule time to meet with people to complete housing applications as well as any resources they may need.
Complete Housing Support, MN LTH, Chronic HUD homeless and other necessary documentation on applicants where needed.
Assist in completing full applications for all housing programs.
Complete HMIS training and maintain yearly licensing requirements.
Enter Data, run reports, learn and utilize HMIS as required for reporting and documentation for each person served under the HUD and MHFA contracts.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION: Must be able to walk, sit, stand, crouch, twist, bend, reach overhead, maneuver stairs and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities.
Must be able to move around the office on a daily basis.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must communicate with others and exchange information.
This is primarily a sedentary position (standing and/or sitting).
Employee regularly operates a computer and other office equipment on a daily basis.
Occasional bending and lifting of office materials up to 30 lbs.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform other duties as assigned by Adult Residential Services Program Director.

08 hours per pay check (pro-rated for employees under Full-Time).
Up to 10 days of paid jury duty leave.
