Position Summary
Assists with startup, operation, and shutdown of spray dryers.
Monitors equipment operation, gauges, and panel indicators to ensure the operation is running smoothly and according to specifications.
Records readings and related quality documentation.
Packages product and lifts and stacks bags up to 50-60 pounds frequently.
Responsibilities / Duties:
Assist with the startup, operation, and shutdown of spray dryers and other related equipment
Monitors equipment operation, gauges, and panel lights in order to detect deviations from standards
Confer with management, maintenance, or other equipment operators in order to report equipment malfunctions or resolve production problems
Record gauge readings, test results, and shift production in log books
Read and interpret work orders and instructions in order to determine work assignments, process specifications, and production schedules
Press and adjust controls in order to activate, set, and regulate equipment according to specifications
Routinely lift and stack 50 to 60-pound bags
Clean, lubricate, and adjust equipment using scrapers, solvents, air hoses, oil, and hand tools
Transport materials and products to and from work areas, manually or using carts, hand trucks, or hoists
Remove products from equipment, manually or using hoists, and prepare them for storage, shipment, or additional processing
Weigh or measure specified amounts of ingredients or materials for processing, using devices such as scales and calipers
Responsible for checking equipment to make sure it is working properly, clean out equipment periodically and prepare equipment for product change
Before leaving work, prepare working area for the next shift and discuss current production job tasks with the next shift to ensure a smooth transition
Perform cleaning activities on, around and inside spray dryers, and/or painting and other maintenance projects during ‘cleaning days’ when equipment is shut down for cleaning
Comply with all GMP and Food Safety guidelines
Follow plant safety rules and wears appropriate safety equipment (PPE)
Attend all plant quality and safety training as required
Other duties as apparent or assigned
Job Qualifications:
High School Diploma preferred
1-2 years of experience with AVEKA and training on equipment operations
OR 2+ years of previous experience with similar equipment and machines

Physical Requirements:
Up to 100% on the manufacturing floor to communicate with employees, assess specific plant situations, quality processes, and related.
May require climbing stairs or ladders, reaching, bending, twisting, and working with machinery and processes that requires use of the arms, hands, and fingers, with occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds and/or moving heavier objects with mechanical assistance
Up to 5% general office work with ability to sit for certain periods of time to complete quality documentation, refer to written procedures, log measurements, and related
