*Role: *Teach 4-18 yr old girls\* participating in our programs, in person at your school or a community organization, or virtually: STEAM Club (After-School Programs for Pre-K-7th Graders), STEAM Lab (Weeklong Summer Programs), and Scholars (Virtual or After-School Programs for 8th grade-HS girls\*) *The Role: * At Project Scientist, we aim to ignite and cultivate STEM confidence in ALL girls.
We want teachers who want to enhance their skills in culturally responsive pedagogy and a sincere commitment to racial and gender equity in STEAM Education to teach our programs at their schools.
We provide training and workshops with materials included.
Our program is an opportunity for teachers to grow their confidence and positively impact students by teaching them engaging STEAM content.
All program materials are provided at no cost, in addition to a stipend.
The monthly stipend supports teachers’ classroom needs or personal use; it is based on the number of programs led and the training path completed.
*STEAM Lab* programs run Monday through Friday for 1 week, June 10-14.
The Trane Technologies, La Crosse site hours are 10:15AM - 3:15PM * Stipend up $750 at the end of the week depending on length of program *What you’ll get to do:* * Create a welcoming and safe environment for students ages 4-12.
* Become familiar with the Project Scientist curriculum, materials (including STEAM kits), and teaching policies.
* Lead a classroom of 20 students using culturally responsive teaching strategies and engaging STEAM content.
* Chaperone Project Scientist expeditions and program outings, ensuring students are safe and maintaining appropriate behavior.
* Participate in SciGirls training and classroom culture and engagement strategies breakout sessions.
Become familiar with ways to increase engagement.
* Communicate with Project Scientist staff and other program team members.
* Serve as mentor and leader for Rising Stars in your classroom.
* Understand and show students the importance of STEM Superstars (female STEAM professionals) and expeditions by incorporating key talking points during classroom time.
* Coordinate with the Site leadership to know STEM Companies, Superstars, and Expeditions that are presenting for the week.
* Provide leadership and guidance to students in preparation for the Friday Student Celebrations.
*Skills you will need here:* * Elementary or Secondary Teaching credential; 1+ years of teaching experience * STEAM education experience is a plus * Integrity, sound judgment, self-confidence, maturity, and a sense of perspective * Thrive in groups built on communication and collaboration and encourage young girls to do the same * Passionate about equity in STEAM Education and fulfilling our mission of changing the world’s view on who a scientist is and what a scientist does *Rewards of Becoming a Project Scientist STEAM Teacher:* * Lasting Positive Impact on Kids, Staff, Families, and Communities.
